Possie Bugger - FOTD

I am headed to Oregon next month and have heard that the #1 fly in Oregon is the possie bugger. I have been tying them off and on for a couple months and they look nice, but aren't great. Brian ofver at Reno Trout Envy has tied up some beauties. I like the speckled hen look as a soft hackle and need to tie some of these up. I will be tying a few of these tonight!

When and where are you going to be in Oregon?

Awesome report. I love those flie, kind of like a soft hackle hairs ear combo. I've never seen mayflies on snow like that. I thought bugs had to have a certain temperature to be able to move their body. I guess not. Great pics.

@Chris

Headed to Eugene May 26-30. My buddy from HS lives there and will be taking us around.

Hoping to hit the Deschutes, Metolius, Falll Rivers and then East Lake and some other high mtn lakes. Going to be doing a ton of camping out of a white cargo van - better to get all our pontoons, fishing gear and camping gear around.

Maybe even do some salt fishing for ling cod and some steelie fishing the Williamette or the McKenzie.

We could definitely meet up if you are in the area.

I'll be at Diamond Lake the week before, from wed thru sat (may 19 thru 23). Sounds like we'll just miss each other.
Hopefully you're in good hands with your buddy.
Diamond is a big lake, full of big fish, all rainbows. East can be good, but has a tui chub problem. Some monster browns come out of East, but the guys trolling 12" rainbow rappalas catch most of them. The Deschutes should be heating up as far as Salmonflies go when you get there.
If you're ever in Portland and want to see bamboo rodmakers shop, let me know.
