Surfing Kamchatka
No trout, no boats, no helicopters, no warmth......but the video and the song are truly mesmerizing and trance evoking.

Grey Reef WY, March 30, 2019
Day 1 Friday:
Fremont Canyon at Caldwell Meadow section.
Here we are fishing in the canyon - the wind was a little lighter in here. Although it was cold all day long, we were warm - with the exception of our hands. You would have to face upriver with the wind against your back and the snow would collect on you. You would look like half a snowman.
View at Grey Reef Anglers Lodge.
The lodge had a kitchen, huge living room with a wood burning stove, and the basement had a cooking area, pool table ad large TV area. It was a pretty nice lodge - nothing super luxurious, but very comfortable. WiFi was non-existent at the lodge.
Day 2 Saturday:
We launched with about 15 other boats at the Alcova dam - and it wasn't hard to tell where the good spots were - look for the boats back rowing. The water was getting blown out at night (up to 5000 cfs) and slowly they were receding it to about 500cfs by 10-11am. So the water was dropping constantly while we were floating. We nymphed all day. We caught 20+ fish each, all fish were 17.5-19 inches - literally nothing smaller - all were bows or cuttbows. Steffan did catch a pure cutthroat - and this thing was pretty.
That night we headed out to the Silver Fox Steakhouse, had some real food and exchanged stories. We were back at the lodge around 8pm, played some dice and again in bed by 9pm.
