After recommendations from ZD and a few others, I decided not to hit up the D's, but rather hit South Park instead. I got intel they were catching them right by the boat ramp - which I found out later was because the stocking truck had just been there two weeks earlier and the fish hadn't really spread out yet.
I headed up early on Saturday morning, getting there around 7am - took my time getting the float tube set up and out on the water. It was quiet. Dead calm - no wind at all. I caught a few stockers right off, then lost a big fish. Around 10:30 it picked up and I did manage a nice rainbow (kipe and all). Manage a bunch of stockers and a decent brown trout the rest of the morning until my buddy showed up around 1:30. The wind picked up, he caught a few more stockers.
We hit the Tomahawk area, but it was blown out - not too off colored, but high water. Had a few dinks hit dries. Ate at the Park Bar in the lovely Fairplay Colorado - before camping out at the lovely Chaparral General Store parking lot/camping area.
Up early on Sunday, still no wind - more dinks. Did manage a porky brown trout, and my buddy had on a tank, but lost it. We were out by noon time, home by 2pm. Not a great trip - but still good to get out - managed a hell of a sunburn. All caught on calli's - they were popping!!
